In the middle of Lubéron, classified among the most beautiful villages of France, Roussillon will enchant you by its ochers with the colors changeantes and the heat and the charm of its perched small houses. The history of Roussillon was always related to the natural wealth of which it enjoyed: ocher. Today, it is always the ocher which attracts the tourists: houses painted of ocher framing the small streets with the many tradesmen, or the path of ochers and Colorado Of Provence. THE VILLAGE: The sinuous central street, which leads to the top of the village, is bordered of, shop art galleries of provençaux products and pretty houses of 17th and 18th centuries. In top, the Saint-Michel church has a beautiful frontage of the 17th century and is next to a cliff from where one has a splendid panorama on 360°, with table of orientation. A market of Provence is held there every Thursday morning. |
THE PATH OF OCHERS: For a few hundred meters of the heart of the village, south-eastern side, one should not miss the path of ochers, whose colors go from the yellow to the purple one.
